Ushio, an aspiring priest, has always viewed a family legend that an ancestor once impaled a demon on a temple altar stone with the legendary Beast Spear as so much rubbish. However, when he discovers the demon, Tora, in his basement one day, he is forced to realize there may be some truth to the tale yet. Unfortunately, he is now also stuck with a demon who not only may decide to eat him, but is also attracting other demons to Ushio's hometown, forcing Ushio to unfetter Tora so that he may defend Ushio and his family from the rogue demons.
