Lucy is a beautiful 19-year old who has come to spend the summer with her late mother's bohemian friends. Although sent by her father to have her portrait painted, to Lucy the trip is a chance to fulfill two of her own dreams: to consummate her romance with the Italian boy she fell in love with four years earlier, and to discover the identity of her father through clues in her mother's diary.
