The Road Home is a cover album by progressive rock keyboardist Jordan Rudess, released in 2007. Four of the songs are faithful covers of progressive rock songs: Genesis' "Dance on a Volcano", Yes' "Sound Chaser", Gentle Giant's "Just the Same", and Emerson, Lake & Palmer's "Tarkus". Rudess has commented that the last of these songs was responsible for making him wish to become a rock keyboardist. The arrangements of these versions stick fairly close to those of the original versions, but each song is extended by around two or three minutes with the addition of new solo sections. The "J.R. Piano Medley" is a largely solo piano-based medley of segments from four additional progressive rock songs: Yes' "Soon" (a segment of "The Gates of Delirium"), Genesis' "Supper's Ready", King Crimson's "I Talk to the Wind", and Yes' "And You and I". "Piece of the π" is an original composition. Steven Wilson, Nick D'Virgilio, Neal Morse, Kip Winger, and Bert Baldwin provide guest vocals; Rudess also provides a rare vocal appearance of his own in the medley. Bumblefoot, Ricky Garcia, Ed Wynne, and Marco Sfogli perform guitar parts. Rod Morgenstein performs drums.
